America Under Siege: A Military Perspective on the Ideological War for Our Republic With Allen West

In a powerful and sobering episode of United Patriots Uprising, host Gary Binford sat down with retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Allen West—combat veteran, former U.S. Congressman, and Executive Director of the American Constitutional Rights Union. Speaking through the distinct lens of a military man who has witnessed the grim realities of totalitarian regimes firsthand, Lt. Col. West issued a stark warning: America is currently facing an existential, asymmetrical war from within that threatens the very foundation of our constitutional republic. The Chilling Reality of the "Other Side"

Lt. Col. West began by reflecting on his early military days as a young lieutenant stationed in Berlin during the height of the Cold War. He described crossing Checkpoint Charlie from a vibrant, well-lit West Berlin into East Berlin—an experience that left a lasting impression.

"What I saw over there sent chills down my spine," West recalled. "I saw the opposite of freedom and liberty. I saw people that were afraid to look at us, definitely afraid to speak to us... I saw depression and despondency."

This firsthand exposure to Marxism, socialism, and communism solidified his understanding of systems that enforce an "equality of outcomes" rather than protecting an "equality of opportunity." While he never imagined these foreign ideologies would take root on American soil, West warns that this antithetical philosophy of governance has successfully infiltrated our institutions, working its way from college campuses down into middle schools.

The Convergence: Cultural Marxism and the Red-Green Axis

A major theme of the interview was how the political landscape has shifted away from traditional Democrat-versus-Republican debates into a battle between two irreconcilable philosophies: classical liberalism (modern constitutional conservatism) and Marxism.

Gary Binford highlighted how cultural Marxism—pioneered by theorists like Antonio Gramsci—has spent decades using race, gender, and class to divide the nation because a vibrant middle class would never launch an armed revolution. West agreed, noting that the threat has evolved into a dangerous convergence where ideological subversion is meeting physical street violence, citing radical groups, the normalization of property destruction, and political sanctuary jurisdictions that explicitly defy the rule of law.

Furthermore, West expanded the scope of the threat by pointing to the "Red-Green alliance"—an unholy intersection where Marxist radicals and Islamic jihadists find common cause in their shared hatred for Western civilization.

The Geopolitical and Spiritual War with Iran

Turning to global security, West emphasized that the nation's premier foreign adversary, Iran, has effectively been at war with the United States for nearly fifty years. He traced this history from the 1979 hostage crisis to the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing carried out by Iran’s proxy, Hezbollah, which occurred just seven days before West arrived on active duty at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

West criticized past political administrations for enriching the Iranian regime with billions of dollars and pallets of cash, dismissing the threat of their nuclear ambitions. He warned that traditional Cold War defense strategies like Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) are entirely useless against a radical Islamic product of theocracy.

"The mullahs, the ayatollahs, the clerics—they want to see the return of what they call the hidden imam, the 12th imam, the Mahdi," West explained. "The means by which the Mahdi comes back and ushers in global Islamic dominance is by a cataclysmic event. And what do you think a nuclear device is? A cataclysmic event against the West."

To counter this, West asserted that leaders in the Middle East only respect strength and might. He advocated for a decisive, Tangible economic strategy: seizing control of the Strait of Hormuz and Kharg Island to cut off Iran's oil and gas revenues, forcing an internal collapse of the regime without deploying hundreds of thousands of American ground troops.

Keeping the Republic: A Call to Action for Every American

When asked by Binford how everyday citizens can push back against this multi-front siege, West returned to the foundational principles of the nation. Echoing Benjamin Franklin’s famous post-constitutional mandate—"A republic, if you can keep it"—West implored Americans to accept their inherent civic responsibilities.

He challenged citizens to:

  • Get Educated and Involved: Move past emotion and study the rule of law. West expressed deep frustration with dismal voter turnout in local municipal elections (citing an 8.4% turnout in Dallas County, Texas), emphasizing that local school boards and city councils are the front lines.

  • Hold Officials Accountable: Stop giving politicians a blank check or a pass when their rhetoric undermines the Constitution.

  • Read the Founding Documents: As America approaches its 250th anniversary of independence, West challenged everyone to read the Declaration of Independence in its entirety. "Listen to each one of the grievances that Jefferson articulated, because many of those grievances are still happening right now today in America."

Where to Listen

Lt. Col. West concluded the broadcast by reminding listeners to truly honor Memorial Day—not as a casual holiday, but as a solemn day of remembrance for those who gave "the last full measure of devotion."
