Faith Under Fire: The FBI's War on Christians, from J6 to Your Church Pew

Elderly woman praying outside a domed building, wearing a knitted scarf. Text reads "Prayer is not a felony" in red. Sky is clear.

Picture this: A 72-year-old grandma clutching her rosary on the Capitol steps, whispering prayers for a divided nation. Or a dad of seven kneeling outside an abortion clinic, shielding his son from harassment. Or a mom at a school board meeting, voicing concerns about what her kids are learning. Innocent acts of faith, right? Wrong—if you're a Christian in Biden's America, the FBI saw you as a threat.

Today, as Kash Patel fires agents tied to the 2020 kneeling fiasco and probes James Comey's lies, it's time to connect the dots. This isn't random—it's a pattern of weaponization against believers. From J6 "prayers behind bars" to spying on Latin Mass attendees, the bureau's turned its guns on the faithful while letting real violence slide. I'm tired of it. Aren't you? Let's break it down.

J6: Where Prayer Became a Felony

January 6, 2021. Chaos at the Capitol, yes—but not for everyone. Take Rebecca Lavrenz, the "J6 Praying Grandma" from Colorado. She didn't smash windows or assault cops; she prayed. Rosary in hand, on the steps. Arrested in 2022, convicted on misdemeanors like "parading," slapped with probation and confinement. Or the Tyner duo—father and son, faithful Coloradans, praying outside. Federal charges: restricted grounds. Arrested together in 2023, lives upended.

Over 1,500 charged from J6, many Christians hit hard—700+ convicted, some for "wandering." FBI embedded 274 plainclothes agents in the crowds, per yesterday's DOJ filing—yet Director Wray lied to Congress in 2023: "No undercover agents." Perjury? Rep. Andy Biggs says yes, demanding charges. Meanwhile, J6 "wanderers" get SWAT raids; Floyd rioters (25+ deaths, $2B damage) see 90% charges dropped. Double standard? You bet.

The Catholic Crackdown: Latin Mass as 'Extremist' Hotspot

It gets worse. January 2023: FBI Richmond memo labels "radical-traditionalist Catholics"—Latin Mass lovers—as "white supremacists" and "domestic terrorists."  Infiltrate parishes? Recruit "tripwires" in churches? All based on SPLC smears, no vetting. House Judiciary's 2024 report: Nationwide coordination, priests interviewed, choirs spied on. Wray retracted it, but no apologies, no firings—until Patel stepped in September 2025: "Terminations and resignations."

Bishops called it "religious profiling." 20 state AGs demanded probes. Yet hate crimes against Christians spiked—FRC reported steady rises 2018-2022. The FBI? They are currently investigating 60 anti-Catholic cases now, per Patel. Too little, too late.

Post-Dobbs Fallout: The FACE Act’s Double Standard?

After the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, the federal hammer dropped—hard, and selectively.

Children gather near a warmly lit house at dusk, string lights hanging above. The scene feels nostalgic and inviting with a twilight sky.

In 2021, Mark Houck, a Catholic father and sidewalk counselor, shoved a clinic escort who was allegedly harassing his son. The local DA declined to prosecute. But the FBI? They sent 20 armed agents to raid his home at dawn, guns drawn on his children. Houck was charged under the FACE Act—facing up to 11 years in prison.

He was acquitted in 2023. Now, he’s suing the Bureau for the trauma

.

Paul Vaughn, father of eleven, faced similar treatment. His crime? Participating in a peaceful prayer protest. The FBI arrested him at gunpoint in front of his kids.

Meanwhile, since Dobbs, nearly 100 attacks on churches and pregnancy centers have been reported—graffiti, smashed windows, even arson. Groups like “Jane’s Revenge” claimed responsibility. Yet FBI investigations remain sparse, and arrests rarer still.

Contrast that with the 11 pro-life activists indicted for a 2021 nonviolent blockade. No weapons. No destruction. Just prayer and protest.

Now, House Republicans are probing the DOJ: Why the one-sided fury?   Why the selective enforcement of the FACE Act?

Parents: Branded as Terrorists for Speaking Up

Woman at podium speaks to an attentive audience in a sunlit room. Red text "Threat Tag?" appears, adding a tense mood.

Don't forget moms and dads. In 2021, the National School Boards Association (NSBA) sent a letter to President Biden suggesting that parents protesting critical race theory and gender ideology in schools might be akin to “domestic terrorists.”

Days later, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a DOJ memo mobilizing FBI task forces across the country.

The result?

  • Home visits.

  • “Threat tags” were assigned to concerned parents.

  • Zero arrests. Zero crimes.

Witnesses testified before Congress: This wasn’t law enforcement—it was intimidation. A chilling message to moms and dads who dared to speak at school board meetings.

While House republicans subpoenaed DOJ documents to uncover the decision-making process, Democrats stonewalled their efforts.

Patel's Purge: A Glimmer of Justice?

Kash Patel, once smeared in 2025 congressional hearings as an “insurrection enabler” for defending nonviolent January 6 defendants, is now leading a purge of what many consider institutional rot.

He testified that President Trump authorized National Guard deployment—blocked by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. That detail, long buried, is now central to Patel’s push for transparency.

  • Agents who knelt during protests have been dismissed for “bias.”

  • Authors of the infamous anti-Catholic memo? Removed.

  • Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted for leaks and false statements.

  • Current Director Christopher Wray faces a looming perjury probe.

But public trust remains shattered. Gallup reports just 37% overall trust in the FBI—and only 18% among conservatives.

The Knife in the Back -Faith isn't a Felony

Democrats cry "retribution" while their FBI knifed Christians in the back—then claimed victim. From mandates to gas gouging ($5/gallon peaks), they gaslit us. But faith endures. Patel's a start—demand more: Defund overreach, protect the pews. Do not allow the government to wage a war on Christians.
