Family, Faith, and the Fight for Truth: Jim Daly on United Patriots Uprising Discusses His Documentary, Truth Rising

On the latest episode of United Patriots Uprising, host Gary Binford welcomed Jim Daly, President of Focus on the Family, for a powerful conversation about family, faith, and a must-see new documentary co-produced with the Colson Center, Truth Rising.

Divorce, he noted, is one of the strongest drivers of poverty, raising the rate from 6% in intact families to 36% after a family splits apart.

Beyond poverty, Daly warned that Western civilization itself is being undermined by ideologies that devalue the family and replace faith in God with dependence on government. He pointed to rising attacks on parental rights, traditional marriage, and even children’s safety under radical gender ideologies.

Truth Rising: A Call to Action

The centerpiece of the discussion was the new documentary Truth Rising, which Daly produced with the Colson Center. The film explores the decline of Western civilization, the erosion of truth, and the urgent need for Christians to stand firm. Voices like cultural observer Oz Guinness and John Stonestreet of the Colson Center highlight what Daly called a “civilizational moment”—a turning point where society must either renew itself by returning to foundational values or collapse into ruin.

The film underscores that truth is not relative or subjective; it is absolute, rooted in God’s Word. Daly stressed the importance of moving beyond simply believing in truth to loving, embracing, and living it out.

Standing Strong in a Hostile Culture

While acknowledging the resistance Christians face, Daly reminded listeners that following Christ has never meant comfort. The early church endured persecution yet transformed the Roman Empire through courage, compassion, and faithfulness. He encouraged believers today to take the same approach—engaging in their communities, serving neighbors, and standing firm in biblical truth with kindness and conviction.

Truth Rising isn’t just a documentary— it’s a call to action at a critical time in our culture. As faith, identity, and morality are being redefined, this documentary exposes the civilizational moment we are living in.

Stories like that of Jack Phillips, the Colorado baker who defended his religious freedom all the way to the Supreme Court, illustrate what it means to “have a spine” in today’s cultural climate. Daly called on Christians to resist complacency and actively reintroduce God into schools, workplaces, and government—starting at the individual level by living out their faith.

Why It Matters Now

For Daly, the stakes could not be higher. Without a return to God and the strengthening of families, America risks following the same destructive path as nations that embraced socialism and communism. But he remains hopeful, pointing to cultural shifts where even non-Christians are beginning to push back against destructive ideologies.

“Fear not,” Daly reminded, quoting Scripture. “We need to get about doing the business of what God wants us to do.”
