Go Fund Me, a platform that raises money for charitable causes has decided that it will no longer support the Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser. Despite raising funds for Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone and other extreme left organizations.
The Freedom Convoy 2022 is a Canadian movement whereby Canadian Truck drivers have driven across the country to demand their freedom from vaccine mandates. It has been a peaceful movement in the country, despite a few incidents of raucous activities.
"GoFundMe is a crowdfunding platform that simply allows anyone to raise money for social causes. Campaigns can be launched in various categories, ranging from emergencies to medical. Individuals as well as teams and charities are eligible to open campaigns on the platform".
However, GoFundme is a political activist organization that routinely funds liberal ideologies and cancels funding for organizations that are of a conservative nature. As pointed out by Greg Price on Twitter, "Fundraisers GoFundMe has now banned:
- Canadian truckers
- Kyle Rittenhouse legal defense
- Conservative students who were harassed at ASU
- Parents targeted by Loudoun County schools
Go fund me even supported Antifa-occupied ‘CHAZ/CHOP’ even after people were murdered. As reported by The PostMillenial, "the crowdfunding platform that recently seized over $10 million in funds intended for the Canadian truckers’ Freedom Convoy, financially supported and promoted the illegal “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” or CHAZ/CHOP in Seattle, Washington during the height of the summer 2020 riots that broke out in the wake of George Floyd’s death."
Another crowdfunding that GoFundMe has supported is Jussie Smollett who raised over $5 Million dollars despite it being a hoax hate crime.
Crowdfunding is an important source of revenue for many charitable causes, however, when an organization decides which funds are deemed to be important and which funds go against its political ideology, it is time to rethink which source people will use to help their organizations.
