"I promise you if I'm elected president, you're going to see the single most important thing that changes America," Biden announced. "We're gonna cure cancer."
However, skeptics warn that the cure to cancer is not a simple fix. Deanna Attai, an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the University of California Los Angeles, told Live Science. "It's just not that simple," she added. This campaign promise is misleading because it suggests that cancer is one disease with one cure, which is not the case, Attai said.
His campaign promise however took a turn around in that his non-profit organization The Biden Cancer Initiative suspended its operations indefinitely. Two years after its inception, the Vice President along with his wife have decided to stop activities associated with his non-profit.
Biden decided to leave the board as to avoid any ethics violations, however the organization had a hard time maintaining momentum without his involvement.
What does this say about his promise to cure cancer?
