Kamala Harris, Christians, and the Consequences of Silence: A Call to Action

At a recent rally, Vice President Kamala Harris ignited fierce backlash for a remark that left many Christians appalled. During a speech advocating her party’s stance on abortion, a voice from the crowd rang out, boldly declaring, “Jesus is Lord.” Harris, grinning ear to ear, replied, “Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally,” a comment that was widely seen as dismissive of Christian values.

David DiCrescenzo of The Patriots Press makes a strong case in his latest article, titled

"Elections Matter. Shame on Fifty-Five Million Non-voting American Christians." In it, he captures a moment that struck a nerve with many in the Christian community. At a recent rally, Vice President Harris responded to a member of the audience shouting “Jesus is Lord” with a dismissive remark, “Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally,” a comment that DiCrescenzo sees as emblematic of the larger disregard for Christian values within certain political circles.

DiCrescenzo’s outrage is clear as he recounts not only this moment but a broader pattern of hostility toward faith and morality. He points to the 2012 Democratic National Convention, where boos were heard when God was mentioned—a moment that crystallized the party’s evolving stance on issues of religion and moral responsibility. DiCrescenzo doesn’t shy away from expressing his frustration with Christians who choose to remain politically inactive, accusing them of standing idly by as their values are trampled upon. His passionate call to action is clear: "Imagine if just a quarter of Christians got involved," he muses, calling it a missed opportunity to protect their faith in the public arena.

What makes DiCrescenzo's message resonate is its urgency, especially when he addresses the tendency of some Christians to rationalize inaction with the belief that current events are simply "God’s plan" unfolding. He warns that such passivity, while understandable in a spiritual context, ultimately serves the enemy by allowing harmful ideologies to flourish unchecked.

As DiCrescenzo rightly argues, the failure of Christians to engage politically has led to the ascendance of values that mock traditional faith and morality. He mentions the silence of many church leaders on these pressing issues, fearing the loss of tax-exempt status. In his words, this silence enables the parade of evil, which is now infiltrating even the most sacred spaces like churches and schools with symbols that undermine God’s covenant.

The crux of his argument is a plea for Christians to reflect deeply on their values and vote accordingly, aligning their choices with biblical principles. He delivers a pointed critique to those who fail to act, emphasizing that their inaction essentially grants free rein to those who oppose Christian values.
