Leanna Wen, who has been the director of Planned Parenthood for almost a year, was let go during a closed door meeting of the Board of Directors. While Wen confirmed the story, her twitter account has a vastly angry tone.
Her termination coincides with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals staying three district court injunctions against the “Protect Life” regulations will remain in effect while the full court hears the appeal. This ruling could ultimately lead to the defunding of millions of our tax dollars from Planned Parenthood – to be fully in force while the case proceeds on appeal.
"The rules ban taxpayer-funded clinics from making abortion referrals and prohibit clinics that receive federal money from sharing office space with abortion providers." (AP reporting)
Abortion despite being a legal procedure, federal law prohibits use of title X or any tax payer funds to be used for abortions except in the case of incest, rape or where the mother's life is put in danger.
"We are greatly encouraged to see the 9th Circuit rule in favor of allowing President Trump's Protect Life Rule to take effect while it continues to be litigated," said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group Susan B.
