Writer: Lynn MatthewsLynn Matthews

Police have confirmed that at least five people were killed and 21 others were injured in shootings near Midland and Odessa Saturday. The alleged shooter has been shot and killed at a movie theater in Odessa.

The shooting took place shortly after the suspect was pulled over by police, and he began to randomly shoot people. "Chief Michael Gerke of the Odessa Police Department said the shooting began around 3 p.m. after a traffic stop. When a trooper tried to pull over the gunman, he shot the trooper who pulled him over and began shooting people at random, Gerke said."

The shooter ditched his car, and hijacked a postal service vehicle while continuing to fire randomly. Two law enforcement officers were injured.

Police identified the shooter as a white male in his 30's, and had no motive at this time.
