The $36 Trillion Reality: Fiscal Irresponsibility at a Breaking Point

The U.S. national debt has skyrocketed past $36 trillion, marking an alarming milestone in our nation's economic history. Far from being just numbers on a ledger, this debt is a stark indicator of reckless spending that burdens every American.

A Debt Spiral of Our Own Making

The federal government’s fiscal recklessness has driven the debt up by $1 trillion in just 100 days. This runaway borrowing funds not only essential services but also pork-barrel programs and unnecessary expenditures—wasteful spending that directly undermines the nation’s economic stability.

Interest Now Costs More Than Defense and Medicare

In the first seven months of Fiscal Year 2024, $514 billion went to interest on the debt—more than the $498 billion spent on national defense. By year’s end, interest payments are projected to hit a staggering $870 billion. This alarming reality signals that federal mismanagement is not just inconvenient; it’s dangerous. Cutting Pork Programs and Misguided Spending

Americans deserve better than a government that prioritizes bloated programs over fiscal responsibility. Extravagant spending, such as unnecessary pork projects, has no place in today’s economic landscape. Similarly, the Department of Homeland Security’s ballooning expenditures on illegal migrant relocation must be reined in. Every dollar spent on inefficiency is not invested in securing the border, safeguarding the nation, or supporting taxpayers.

In August of this year the Department of Homeland Security Announces $380 Million in Additional Funding to Communities Receiving Migrants. All while knowing the debt clock is spinning out of control.

From the Heritage Foundation - "$45 million for a “diversity and inclusion” scholarship in Burma. Not content with pushing the DEI fad in America, the administration is also subsidizing it globally.

Burma (also known as Myanmar) has serious problems, including a badly flawed judicial system, rampant corruption, and high poverty due to a lack of property rights and heavy government interference in the economy. A $45 million DEI scholarship will do nothing to address those problems.

The Path Forward

If this trajectory continues, Americans will face higher taxes, reduced services, and a national economy at risk. The urgency for reform is clear: it’s time to cut pork-barrel spending, prioritize American citizens, and ensure fiscal policies align with the values of accountability and efficiency. This isn’t just about numbers—it’s about the future of America. Will we stand for a government that spends its way into financial ruin, or demand accountability and action?
