The President has Reached a Deal to Open the Government

In the midst of a 35 day shut down, President Trump announced he will sign legislation to re-open the government.  Citing that the government will be funded and back pay will be reimbursed for the 800,000 employees currently not receiving a check.

The president also made firm his commitment on funding a barrier between the southern border and Mexico.  Citing that he could use another option if the funds were not made available.

Jay Sekulow, President Trump's attorney, stated that "DHS reported 2,500 known or suspected terrorists have crossed the border".  And that the president could call a National Emergency Declaration.

This short term bill does not include funding for the border.

February 15, is the deadline for negotiations for funding the border.
