Trump vs Musk - The Media Wins, While America Loses

On June 5, 2025, Elon Musk lit a match on X: “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
(@elonmusk, 2025). This bombshell, dropped amid a feud with President Trump over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), proves what WecuMedia’s been saying: the divisive media thrives on this chaos, and a broken Congress ensures no one wins. The bill, a $2.3–$5 trillion deficit disaster, sparked a billionaire war, but the real loser is America (Congressional Budget Office, 2025).
Musk’s Epstein claim—unverified, despite Trump’s known 1990s flight logs with Epstein—escalates his attack on the OBBBA, which guts Tesla’s $7,500 EV tax credits and rejects Starlink for FAA systems, costing Musk billions (Hindustan Times, 2025; OpenSecrets, 2025). After spending $250 million to elect Trump, Musk’s rage is personal: the bill betrays his DOGE mission to slash $1 trillion in spending (Reuters, 2025). Calling it a “disgusting abomination” and now tying Trump to Epstein, Musk’s fighting dirty to protect his empire (Musk, 2025).
Trump’s not taking it lying down. His team calls it “boys being boys,” but his Oval Office jab—“I’m very disappointed in Elon”—betrays hurt after Musk’s betrayal (CBS News, 2025). Trump’s threat to cut Musk’s subsidies shows he’s flexing back, claiming Musk “went CRAZY” over losing EV mandates (Newsweek, 2025). The Epstein accusation, leveraging MAGA’s obsession with the files, aims to fracture Trump’s GOP base, with X users like
@libsoftiktok hyping the drama (TheStreet, 2025).
We need to point out that despite media claims regarding Solar and EV subsidies being cut, Musk has in the past said they were not as important as cutting the spending.
Is it all a show, as WecuMedia suspects? In the Trump-Musk showdown, master media manipulators could be orchestrating a spectacle to divert attention from the OBBBA’s glaring issues, such as its unread 1,038 pages and a deficit surge of $600 billion to $3.8 trillion (Congressional Budget Office, 2025). @politico suggests they’re still “friends” privately, while outlets like Reuters milk the feud for clicks (Politico, 2025). Musk’s Epstein jab, echoing his earlier calls for transparency, keeps him relevant, but his own ties—like a 2014 Ghislaine Maxwell photo—make it a risky gambit (The New York Times, 2025).
Ideologically, Musk’s push for fiscal restraint clashes with Trump’s tax cuts and border wall cash, enabled by a Congress too spineless to read the bill (Musk, 2025). Power struggles deepen the rift: Musk’s DOGE exit and clashes with Rubio show he’s losing clout (Financial Times, 2025). The Epstein claim could be a desperate bid to regain influence, especially as Attorney General Bondi’s “Phase 1” Epstein files revealed little new (The Independent, 2025).
With Congress failing to act, as WecuMedia warned, America’s stuck with debt and drama. The media wins, while X’s “Team Trump vs. Team Musk” noise drowns out the truth. Our take? Skip the tribalism. Read the bill’s 1,038 pages yourself (it’s online). Demand a Congress that works, not one that hands the media a circus. Musk and Trump are playing, but your future’s not a game.
