While Americans are glued to their television sets and the internet, changing their avatars to reflect the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, there is a war on the southern border of the United States.
So devastating that "The United States authorized the departure of families and some personnel Wednesday at the U.S. consulate in the Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo according to CBS News.
The cause for this war on the US southern border was a drug cartel. The war waged a few miles from Laredo Texas, between a cartel and Mexican authorities over the arrest and extradition of Juan Gerardo Trevino aka "El Huevo".
Reported by the Daily Mail, Treviño's "apprehension sparked a series of attacks by his criminal organizations on almost two dozen military installations and the U.S. consulate building in the border town of Nuevo Laredo, across from Laredo, Texas.
The gunfight that ensued hit the United States consulate, as well as paralyzed traffic in the Nueva Laredo area of Mexico. Several trucks were set on fire, and spike strips were placed to stop traffic in the area.
The US Embassy and Consulates in Mexico updated their travel advisory for Mexico and authorized departure for US Consulate General Nuevo Laredo. "On March 16, 2022, the Department of State authorized the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel and eligible family members from the U.S. Consulate General in Nuevo Laredo due to security conditions. Routine consular services in Nuevo Laredo will be unavailable until further notice."
