America’s Melting Pot: We Welcome Your Food, Your Clothes, Your Faith—But Not Your Plot to Burn Down the House

Opinion by Lynn Matthews

Bald eagle over diverse cultural foods and costumes, American flag, and "We the People" text. Background shows religious buildings. Mood: unity.

America has always been the world’s greatest assimilation machine. We don’t ask immigrants to look like us, dress like us, eat like us, or worship like us. We hand them a green card, a work ethic, and the promise that if they play by the rules, their kids will out-earn the natives. That’s not theory—that’s history. Italians brought spaghetti, Irish brought pubs, Vietnamese brought pho, Indians brought tech startups and samosas. Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, atheists—you name it. We celebrate the diversity. Chinatowns, Little Italys, Korean churches, halal food trucks, and temples are as American as apple pie.

We don’t even care what religion you are. Pray to Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, Vishnu, or nothing at all. Build your churches, mosques, synagogues, or temples. That’s the First Amendment in action. America was founded on religious liberty, and we mean it.

But here’s the line that too many cowards refuse to draw: We will not import people—whatever their faith or lack of it—whose core ideology is the destruction of the very ideas and system of government that make this country work.

Marxists, communists, socialists, and Islamists do not come here to join the American experiment. They come to end it.

Marxists, communists, and socialists openly preach that private property is theft, that individual liberty is oppression, and that the only path forward is ever-expanding government control over wealth, speech, education, and daily life. Their track record is not “different ideas”—it’s mass graves, bread lines, gulags, and economic collapse. Venezuela, Cuba, the Soviet Union, Mao’s China—these were not accidents. They were the predictable results of the ideology. When American activists chant for “socialism” while waving foreign flags and calling for “decolonization,” they aren’t debating policy. They’re auditioning to be the next wave of commissars.

Islamists are not peaceful believers who simply want to pray and live quietly. They are political supremacists who demand sharia law replace the Constitution—complete with death for apostasy, second-class status for women and non-Muslims, and the ultimate supremacy of Islamic rule. They don’t want religious freedom; they want religious conquest. We’ve seen the results in Europe’s no-go zones, grooming scandals, blasphemy demands, and open celebrations of terrorism on American streets. Significant polling data shows major support in many Muslim communities for sharia over secular law. That is not “diversity of faith.” That is an imported political ideology incompatible with American self-government.

We already know what happens when nations pretend this is all harmless “multiculturalism.” Sweden, France, Britain, and parts of our own cities prove the experiment has failed. The same people who cheered open borders now scream “bigot” at anyone who notices the consequences.

America’s genius was never “diversity for diversity’s sake.” It was e pluribus unum—out of many, one. One Constitution. One legal system rooted in liberty and equal protection. One set of rules: work hard, obey the law, pledge allegiance to this republic—not to some foreign ideology or caliphate.

Immigrants of any religion who sign up for that bargain are welcome with open arms.

Those who come to replace it—with Marxist redistribution, socialist central planning, or Islamist theocracy—must be shown the door. Deportation is not hatred; it is self-preservation. Border control is not xenophobia; it is basic sovereignty. Ideological vetting is not bigotry; it is common sense.

The American idea—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness under equal protection of the laws—is not a buffet. You don’t get to pick the parts you like and discard the rest while demanding the rest of us fund your revolution. You either accept the whole system or you go home.

We will keep welcoming the world’s strivers, dreamers, and workers of every faith who want to become Americans. But the subversives, the revolutionaries, and the theocrats who despise the principles that made this the freest, richest, most generous nation in history? They can stay where they are.

America’s arms are open to those who embrace her.

Our borders are not open to those who want to conquer her.

Our principles are not negotiable.

That’s not hate. That’s how a great nation survives.
