Biden is Impotent When it Comes to China

The United States has a massive problem regarding the issue of China. First and foremost is that China during his two-hour conversation with Chinese president Xi, Xi threatened President Biden. "Those who play with fire will only get burnt. Hope the U.S. side can see this clearly.'

Xi emphasized that the Chinese government and people have been consistent on the Taiwan question and that resolutely safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity is the firm will of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people. "Those who play with fire will perish by it," he added.

According to Taipei Times, "Taiwan’s chip industry emerges as a battlefront in the US-China showdown. In dominating the fabrication of the world’s most advanced semiconductors, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) has captured a technology that is crucial to the cutting-edge digital devices and weapons of today and tomorrow. TSMC accounts for more than 90 percent of global output of these chips, according to industry estimates."

While Taiwan is insistent that it is an autonomous country, China vehemently disagrees citing the "One China Policy." President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan stated in 2020, "We don’t have a need to declare ourselves an independent state,” Tsai told the BBC. “We are an independent country already and we call ourselves the Republic of China, Taiwan.”

On the other hand, Bejing vehemently denies an independent Taiwan and claims that, "Beijing will "not hesitate to start a war" if Taiwan declares independence, China's defense minister has warned his US counterpart, the latest salvo between the superpowers over the island.

President Biden said that the U.S. is committed to defending Taiwan in case of an attack by mainland China. China claims the island as its own and has threatened to invade if it declares independence. The Pentagon said on Friday that the U.S. State Department had approved the potential sale of military-technical assistance to Taiwan worth an estimated $108 million. However, China has demanded that the US cancel its sale of weapons.

With the threats that China has made against the United States regarding House Speaker Pelosi's plan to visit the Island, we shall see what transpires. Taiwan claims, "Chinese threats have been going on continuously for decades, but ‘Taiwan will not cave in to fear.’ Will China make good on its threat to stop her from visiting? Will the Biden administration back down to China? Will the pentagon cancel its sale of arms?
