Dr. Linda Lee Tarver - Book One: Shall I Pursue?
Dr. Tarver’s first book is rooted in 1 Samuel 30 — the account of King David at Ziklag, where his community was destroyed, his people taken, and his own men on the verge of turning against him. In his darkest moment, David encouraged himself in the Lord, put on the ephod, and asked one defining question:
“Shall I pursue? And will you be with me?”
The Lord’s answer: “Pursue, for you shall surely recover all.”
Dr. Tarver draws a direct and deeply personal parallel to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign — his third run for office — conducted while facing 92 felony charges, relentless lawfare, and a nation she describes as spiritually and politically in ruins. Like David sitting in the ashes of Ziklag, Trump surveyed an America she likens to Nahum 3:13 — open borders, weakened defenses, and moral decay — and chose to pursue anyway.
She also weaves in Judges 3, noting that the first three judges of Israel were not spiritual clergy but political and military deliverers — raised up by God in response to the cries of His people. Dr. Tarver firmly believes President Trump fits this biblical model of a God-appointed deliverer — not a pastor or preacher, but a leader called for such a time as this.
Book Two: All the President’s Men
Drawn from 2 Samuel 23 — King David’s final words — Dr. Tarver highlights something striking: on his deathbed, David did not speak of his battles, his wealth, or his children. He spoke of his mighty men and their loyalty. This becomes the cornerstone of her second book.
Dr. Tarver identifies Trump’s “three” — mirroring David’s inner circle and even Jesus’ own (Peter, James, and John) — as:
• Vice President JD Vance
• Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth
• Secretary of State Marco Rubio
She then expands to a broader “30,” which includes:
• Tom Homan (Border Czar)
• Howard Lutnick (Commerce Secretary)
• Scott Bessent (Treasury Secretary)
• Dr. Ben Carson (former HUD Secretary and ongoing adviser)
Dr. Tarver addresses the media’s criticism of Trump’s demand for loyalty head-on, arguing that the loyalty she describes is not blind loyalty, but covenant loyalty — the same loyalty David’s men pledged when they said, “We are yours, David, because the hand of the Lord is upon you.”
Trump’s Spiritual Journey
Gary asked Dr. Tarver to reflect on Trump’s spiritual evolution from when she first met him in 2015 to today. Her observations were personal and vivid:
• In 2015: She found him genuine, humble before God, and comfortable in Christian settings — though his faith was not yet prominently on display.
• During COVID: She was moved when Trump publicly declared from the Resolute Desk: “Today we remember the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” — a declaration she says no prior president had made so boldly.
• By 2024: She saw a man transformed — one who openly asked for prayer, hosted faith-filled cabinet meetings, and rededicated America to God, calling it “one nation under God.”
Dr. Tarver also described TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) not merely as a political phenomenon, but as a spiritual tormenting, drawing parallels to the demonic spirits that afflicted King Saul after God’s spirit departed from him.
Closing Thoughts
Gary closed the interview by reminding listeners of Psalm 91 — that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under His shadow — and encouraged continued prayer over President Trump. Gary expressed his belief that as long as President Trump stays in God’s lane, the Lord’s covering and protection remain over him.
