If anyone is wondering where they have heard the term "Green New Deal" before, but cant quite put your finger on it, fear not, you're not imagining things. Green New Deal has been a platform on another Presidential candidate. Jill Stein in her 2012 and 2016 campaign for president ran on the Green New Deal.
The original plan Ocasio-Cortez laid out, " Building on the concept of FDR’s New Deal, we call for a massive mobilization of our communities, government and the people on the scale of World War II - to transition our energy system and economy to 100% clean, renewable energy by 2030, including a complete phase out of fossil fuels, fracked gas and nuclear power." Stein had written extensively her plan for fossil fuels.
AOC appears to be a plagiarized version of the Stein plan. Unlike the AOC version, Stein documented her sources of information and didn't include universal income for those who are "unwilling to work."
Comparing the versions of the two plans, down to the FDR reference, we can make the assumption that this plan, despite being contrived as an original plan was the "brain child" of Dr. Stein, not the work of an ex-bartender turned congressman.
On AOC's plan every page of the 14 page NPR document published there are clear marking indicating that the plan was originated March 15, 2010. That would mean that it was created at almost exactly the same time as Jill Stein created her Green New Deal in preparation for her 2012 Presidential run. Coincidence?
During the last election Stein garnered 1,207,141 votes roughly 1% of the total votes for president.
Although the Green New Deal has been widely publicized, WHY is it that NO ONE seems to have remembered Jill Stein's Green New Deal, not the general public, MSM or political arena, including Stein herself?
