The Slow Demise of Liberty: America's Shift Towards Socialism

Part 1

While America has traditionally been known as "The land of the Free, Home of the Brave," there has been a radical change in the traditional values of being a free American. Americans have believed that "hard work" a spirit of determination, and free will will allow them to prosper.

In recent years, the United States has experienced a noticeable shift from its traditional capitalist roots toward a more socialist approach in its economic and political landscape. This transformation is impacting various aspects of American life, from the economy to the fundamental freedoms enshrined in the Constitution. One of the most significant concerns arising from this shift is the growing ability of the government to censor free speech.

While the United States is undergoing this shift to Socialism it is important to note that, Marxists often refer to socialism as the first, necessary phase on the way from capitalism to communism.

Economic Impacts of the Shift

Under a capitalist system, the economy thrives on free-market principles where supply and demand dictate production, pricing, and distribution of goods and services. Individuals are encouraged to innovate and succeed based on their merit and hard work. However, with the country moving toward a more socialist framework, there is an increased emphasis on government intervention and redistribution of wealth.

In recent years, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria have become prominent factors in the corporate world. While these frameworks aim to promote fairness, sustainability, and ethical governance, their implementation has had significant and sometimes crippling effects on various traditional industries.

Government policies aimed at narrowing the wealth gap and providing universal basic services have led to higher taxes and increased regulations. While these measures are designed to promote social welfare, they often stifle innovation and burden small businesses.

Entrepreneurs and small business owners, who are the backbone of the American economy, find it increasingly difficult to operate under the weight of heavy regulations and high operational costs. As a result, economic growth slows down, unemployment rates rise, and the overall standard of living decreases.

The Erosion of Free Speech

One of the most alarming consequences of this shift is the erosion of free speech. In a capitalist society, free speech is a fundamental right that allows individuals to express their ideas, opinions, and criticisms without fear of government retaliation. However, as the government takes on a more central role in regulating various aspects of life, including the media and online platforms, there is a growing tendency to control and limit what can be said or shared.

The rise of "cancel culture" and the increased prevalence of censorship on social media are symptoms of this broader trend. Government agencies, often in collaboration with tech giants, are now more empowered to monitor and suppress content that they deem harmful or misleading. This is done under the guise of protecting public interest and national security. However, the criteria for what constitutes harmful or misleading information are often vague and subjective, leading to arbitrary and politically motivated censorship.

Numerous instances highlight the dangers of this trend. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, various voices raising legitimate concerns about lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and other government policies were silenced. Social media platforms, under pressure from government entities, banned accounts and removed content that contradicted the official narrative. This suppression of dissenting voices not only undermined public trust but also stifled healthy debate and the exchange of ideas.

Another example is the increasing pressure on news organizations and journalists to align with certain political ideologies. Investigative journalists exposing corruption or controversial government policies often face legal challenges, harassment, and threats to their careers. This creates an environment of fear and self-censorship, where journalists are less likely to pursue stories that could upset those in power.

While this article merely showcasing a few of the policies being enacted by the current administration that are leading America down a path towards communism, we will continue to expand on this in part 2. But will leave you with a few of the stated goals published in 1958 by the Naked Communist.

  • Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

  • Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

  • Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

  • Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.

  • Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

  • Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

  • Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

  • Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

  • Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

  • Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
