Two Seperate Attacks outside of Kabul Airport

Thursday morning gunmen and two suicide bombers attacked crowds near the Kabul airport where thousands were expecting to board airplanes heading outside of Afghanistan.


The first blast was caused by an ISIS suicide bomber in a vest, according to unnamed government sources cited by Fox and Politico.


“We can confirm that the explosion at the Abbey Gate was the result of a complex attack that resulted in a number of US & civilian casualties,” tweeted Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby


Secretary of State, Antony Blinken said yesterday, "Hostile environment now controlled by the Taliban with the real ability of an ISIS K attack.


There have been concerns that ISIS would walk up to the gate to attacks on people trying to leave Afghanistan.


The Kabul airport has been the scene of some of the most blistering images in recent times of people trying to escape the Taliban that has recently taken over Afghanistan. Some clinging onto planes as the planes were taking off from the airport.


After the attack, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed US responsibility. Citing the part of the airport where the attack took place was under US military control.
